Ordering & customisation
How long does a custom board take?
Most personalised orders ship within 10–14 business days from when we receive the artwork. Rush orders cost an extra $40 and ship within 5 business days.
Can I send my own design or handwriting?
Yes. Upload a clear scan or photo to your order notes or email it to hello@morningwood.com.au with your order number. We can engrave handwritten recipes, kids' drawings, signatures — anything that scans cleanly.
Can I see a mock-up before you engrave?
Always. We send a render of the engraving for your approval before any laser touches the board. If anything looks off, we adjust.
Is there a minimum or maximum order quantity?
Single boards are no problem. For 5+ boards (corporate gifting, wedding party gifts, real estate settlement gifts) we offer 15% off and a 3-week production window. Email hello@morningwood.com.au.
Materials & quality
What kind of wood are these made from?
Acacia hardwood — hand-selected blanks from quality suppliers running sustainably-managed plantations. Dense, food-safe, naturally antibacterial, heavier than people expect for the size.
Is the finish food-safe?
Yes. We finish every board with a food-safe mineral oil and beeswax blend. No varnish, no polyurethane, no nonsense — just oil and wax you could eat.
Is the engraving food-safe?
Yes. CO2 laser engraving on hardwood doesn't introduce any chemicals — it's heat-vaporised wood. The engraved area is the same material as the rest of the board.
Shipping & returns
Where do you ship?
Anywhere in Australia. We use Sendle (carbon-neutral) for metro and Australia Post Express for regional. Most orders arrive 3–5 business days after dispatch.
Do you ship internationally?
Not yet. Acacia is heavier than people expect and international freight makes the boards prohibitively expensive. If you really need one shipped overseas, email us — we'll quote you, but it won't be cheap.
What if I don't like it?
Non-personalised boards: free return within 14 days for refund. Personalised boards (90% of what we sell): if there's a quality issue we'll repair, re-engrave, or refund. If you just changed your mind, we can't take it back — it's literally got your text on it.
Studio
Where is the workshop?
Two Rocks, WA — about an hour north of Perth, right on the coast. Workshop visits by appointment only; email hello@morningwood.com.au with a date.
Can I get a board in plain packaging?
Yes — add "unbranded packaging" to your order notes and we'll ship without any Morning Wood branding on the outside. Useful for corporate gifts or conservative households.
About the name
Australian shorthand for fresh-cut timber. The double meaning is on purpose but quiet — we'd rather the engraving do the talking. Unbranded packaging is free on any order if you'd prefer.
