Two Rocks, WA

A small workshop. One material. One craft.

Morning Wood makes heirloom laser-engraved cutting boards from acacia hardwood, one at a time, in a workshop on the Two Rocks coast — an hour north of Perth.

What we actually do

Personalised laser engraving on acacia boards. Names, dates, family recipes, monograms — deep enough to read clearly after a decade of use, with a mock-up render for your sign-off before the laser fires.

Acacia comes from Kmart, Target, and Bunnings — quality blanks, fairly priced. We don't pretend to mill timber. Our craft is the engraving and the finish: oil + beeswax, linen-wrapped, gift-ready.

How an order moves through the workshop

Every personalised order runs the same four stages: blank selection, layout mock-up, engraving, finish. The whole process takes 10–14 business days. We send a render of the engraving for sign-off before any laser touches the board — if the layout looks off, we adjust it.

Finishing is food-safe mineral oil with a beeswax top coat. No varnish, no polyurethane, no spray finishes.

What we don't do

We don't drop-ship from overseas warehouses. We don't run a Shopify reseller of someone else's engraving. We don't sell unfinished blanks. Every board that goes out the door was hand-finished, engraved, oiled, and packaged here in Two Rocks.

About the name

Morning Wood is Aussie shorthand for fresh-cut timber. The double meaning is intentional but quiet — we'd rather the boards do the talking. If you'd prefer plain unbranded packaging for a gift order, add a note at checkout and we'll ship it that way at no charge.
